There are a great number of millionaires who help people in need and it is a beautiful thing that all hope continues.
Many people, both famous and not so famous who have a lot of money regularly give to charity or create charities of their own.
Some simply donate while others really get involved and start and develop charities, campaign for certain charities and causes and get the ball rolling on other rich individuals donating.
Some of the well-known people that share their incredible wealth are included in the list below:
- Ellen DeGeneres
- Angelina Jolie
- Bruce Springsteen
- Sandra Bullock
- Lance Armstrong
- Charles Woodson
- Vince McMahon
These philanthropic celebrities, business people and athletes get involved in helping others by donating money to children’s homes, old age homes, animal welfare organisations and feed the hungry schemes.
Many of them have started their own charities in the above and other areas. They do a lot of good not only by sharing their wealth with those in need, but by raising awareness for the causes that really need help.
Some have taken on certain causes or organisations as their own and campaigned strongly for them. For example, famous actress and model Pamela Anderson feels very strongly about animal rights and has taken on PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) as her special cause.
She campaigns for them, gets other celebrities and people to take notice of them and donate money, she tries to educate others on the problems and issues in this area and she lives a vegan lifestyle to set an example to others.
What they do?
Donating money is a great start, but creating awareness and helping charities, causes and organisations to work better and to gain awareness and interest from the general public is even better.
Many of the millionaires who help those in need will take a public stand to raise awareness and get others interested in helping out too.
The hit reality show: Secret Millionaire
Secret Millionaire is an ABC reality show where millionaires will go under disguise of ordinary people into areas where there is a lot of need.
They will work with a particular group of people, learn what they need and who they are, and then at the very end they will give away a large sum of money to those who they believe deserves it the most.
The show is a great way to bring those who can provide and those who are in desperate need together and also raises awareness of problems in areas.

How you can help even if you are not a millionaire
There are many ways that you can help those in need even if you cannot afford to give away large sums of money. Even if you are struggling with money yourself, there are ways that you can help.
Firstly, do a clean out of your home. Are there any old clothes that you no longer wear, shoes that don’t fit or blankets that you never use? If so, donate them to charity. Find a children’s home, homeless shelter or old age home and you will be brightening up someone’s day.
When you go shopping for groceries, buy an extra loaf of bread or bottle of milk. Give it to a homeless person as you drive home.
If you make too much supper one night, wrap the excess in tinfoil and hand it to one of the street children who frequents the stop streets of your area.
Find a charity like Habitat for Humanity, the SPCA or anything similar and volunteer your time to help out. Baby homes need people to help bathe and change children on weekends and to simply play with some of the kids.
Old age homes also need people to help out and provide comfort. Are you good at cooking? Volunteer to work in a soup kitchen. There are a great number of ways that you can give back to your community.
